It started as a rumour, but at about 7pm today, 18th June 2014, the Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Professor Bamitale Omole, ordered campus security to shut down the school. This is sequel to the protest by the Students' Union over increase in school fees. Obafemi Awolowo University which used to be Nigeria's cheapest university suddenly is the most expensive Federal university, with fees ranging from 43,700 - 57,700 as opposed the former 5,300 - 12,800 fee. So far The students are still in the hostel awaiting a formal circular today if the university Senate meets.
