Oscar Pistorius's parole review has been set for 18 September, meaning the athlete will spend at least another three weeks in jail, his family has said. Pistorius, who was convicted of culpable homicide for killing his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, was due to be moved to house arrest last Friday after serving 10 months behind bars. But Michael Masutha, the justice minister, referred the matter back to the parole review board. The justice department said the athlete had been approved to be moved to house arrest too soon. Pistorius should have served 10 months, or one-sixth of his five-year sentence before being considered for release, a justice department spokesman said last week. But he was approved for parole in June, eight months into his sentence. Pistorius is set to remain in jail as the review panel, which includes three judges, could take weeks or even months to make its decision.‎

INEC officials who appeared before the Delta state Election tribunal sitting in Asaba the state capital, yesterday August 26th, told members of the tribunal that after the April 11th governorship elections had been concluded, it was discovered that the state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa who was declared winner of the election, had more number of votes than the number of accredited voters during the April 14th governorship election. According to Premium Times, two INEC officials, Assistant Director, ICT Department from Abuja headquarters and Chief Planning Officer, Delta State office, tendered the accreditation report of the April 11 election before the tribunal on the instance of the APC its candidate, Emerhor Otega who is challenging the election results.  The INEC staff told the tribunal that the card readers recorded no sustained failure during the governorship election in Delta state and accredited numbers of voters as at April 29th was 709,000 and at the expiration of the shutting down

Bauchi State governor Mohammed Abubakar has said that the state government through its Recovery Committee has so far recovered over 70 vehicles, N600million generators and a number of air conditioners from the officials of the immediate past administration of former Governor Isa Yuguda. Recent reports from Ghana says Tonto Dikeh's husband, Churchill Olakunle Oladunni's home was robbed few days ago. ‎ According to Ghana site Ghkwaku, the robbery attack happened last week in Churchill's house in Trassacco Estates, Churchill was out of Ghana during the incident, a truck was parked in front of his house which was used to carry the stolen items from the house. After the robbery, Tonto Dikeh and Churchill flew in to Accra to spend sometime in his home only to find out that his home had been burgled. Nigerian singer, Brymo, has signed a new recording and distribution deal with US based music company, Tate Music Music Group. According to an online news portal, ERAVE, the deal is territorial and only covers the United States of America. A landlord in the Idumota, Lagos Island area of Lagos State, Sola Solomon, has allegedly poured petrol and set fire to one of his tenants, identified simply as Abeeb, aka Ogbon. Punch Metro learnt that as the victim struggled to put out the flames, the 67-year-old landlord pushed him down from the top floor of the three-storey building. The father of one was said to have landed with a thud, as the flames ate through his body. Our correspondent was told that Abeeb had barely spent five months in the house located on Iga Idunganran Street, Idumota, when he was killed. Punch Metro gathered that the incident was caused by a disagreement over the use of the compound toilet. A tenant in the house, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained that the quarrel had been settled in the evening and she had pleaded with both parties to maintain the peace. The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Ajjampur R. Ghanashyam, has revealed that the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison Madueke sells crude to India through intermediaries, denying Nigeria's treasury of the full proceed.   "From other countries, when we buy oil, whatever we want to pay, we pay to the Ministry of Finance of that country. In Nigeria, we pay to intermediaries. We would like to be dealing directly with the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). It's not a good thing. Why should we go through intermediaries?   "Secondly, we would also like to have long term agreement, which we have with many countries: Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other countries from where we buy oil. Nigeria is the only country with whom we don't have an agreement. When we write a letter to NNPC, we don't get a response," Mr Ghanashyam told Nigeria's newspaper, Daily Trust.   India is reported to be Nigeria's number one crude buyer now

The Chief Matron of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs. Caroline Oriola, was reportedly found dead in her office at the Assembly premises on Monday morning. Oriola had gone to the office on Saturday but did not return home. Her dead body was discovered on the Monday morning by a cleaner, who had gone to clean the clinic before the the resumption of work. It was learnt from some staff that the Chief Matron had gone to her office on that Saturday to pick some drugs. She allegedly drove her car to the Assembly complex, parked at the lawmakers' car park, before proceeding to her office. She was also said to have put on the air conditioner in her office and backed the door. Security men on duty at the weekend were oblivious of the incident even though the woman signed in before she picked the keys to the clinic being a weekend. The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has named twelve approved centers across Europe, North America, Asia, Middle East and Africa to facilitate the Bank Verification Number, BVN registration exercise for Nigerian banks customers in the Diaspora.  The approved centres include the ones in Washington DC, Atlanta, New York and Houston, United States of America; Johannesburg, South Africa; Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, China; New Delhi, India; London and Leicester, United Kingdom; and Dubai, United Arab Emirates. CBN also disclosed that, "Online Integrated Solutions OIS has been engaged to establish stations for data capture and generation of BVN at a fee of GBP30 per transaction, payable by the customer. The company is expected to capture necessary data for online transmission to the Nigeria Interbank Settlement System, NIBSS who would therefore generate the BVN and communicate same to the customer.
