Its ironic that the GP of a student is his/her most prized asset in the university; and yet many undergraduates do not know their GP. Worse still, many students really do not know their academic performance category. i.e. Whether they are in first class, second class or third class.
This is attributable to the somewhat complex procedure required to actually pin point one's GP. Even those who know their GP eventually lose track of it as new semesters roll by and the grades of the previous semester is forgotten, and what about all the complexity involved in knowing how to calculate an 'F', a missing result, or a yet-to-be-released grade according to each University's policy?
These problems and more are completely solved by the release of a completely free GP Computing software - My GP, available on android, and windows operating systems for all federal universities in the country. Each version is targeted at a particular school. This is because even though the schools mostly have the same GPA system, certain policies differ. For instance, how a particular school calculates 'carry-overs' and 'rewritten exams' might be different from the other.
The features of this app (My GP) include:
1. Computes Your GP on a semester, and cumulative basis
2. Tells you whether you are in first class, second class, or third class.
3. Saves these details till next semester results are out, so you can add the new semester and watch your cumulative GP.
4. Lets you share your GPA information with your Academic Adviser. This is not compulsory and can never be done without your consent.
4. You can edit an already calculated semester. This means that if all results are not out yet, you can leave such entries blank and fill them later.
5. What if you had scored C in a certain course and want to know what your GP would look like if you had scored an A instead? The What IF feature of the app lets you toggle your grades and shows the immediate effect every grade could have made on your Semester, and Cumulative GP.
