UNN's 'Queen Nigeria' 2014 'I want to help children displaced, disabled by Boko Haram'

Hope is on the way for children displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency if the wishes of reigning 'Queen Nigeria’, miss Diamond Obiahu Okoh, come true.
Diamond, a third-year student of Sociology and Anthropology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), won the 2014 Queen Nigeria Beauty Pageant last December.

In an interview with the Tribune, the beauty queen said the ‘Queen Nigeria' title presents her chance to serve her community.
"I also feel very responsible and cannot wait to use this title to serve my community," she said.
"I expect to make a difference and add value to my society using my title."
At a time when the Boko Haram insurgency seems to be gathering momentum, Diamond has her sights set on bring hope to the many children displaced in the violence that is threatening the soul of the North-East.
"The main focus is helping children who have been displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency or disabled by it to find a way to survive and live an almost whole life," Diamond added.
The beauty queen said her father, who was her "best friend" taught her "about the value of womanhood".
Diamond represented Ebonyi state in the competition.
