Movie Plot: Twists by Amadi Euphrasia.

Mr. Okolo was a very egoistic and proud man, he was a violent person but he his all these vices very well. With a flourishing business, shops in different towns, he was considered a rich man. He was a staunch church goer and was most times looked upon as a role model for youths.

At 35, he was still unmarried, and it bothered his old mother a lot. You see, she felt that he was more invested in work than romance and she really needed grand kids as he was her only available son. Her three other kids had gone abroad with their families and she only got to see them during the holidays, 2years apart.

She spoke to Okolo about her hopes for him and Okolo told her that he was quite busy with work and business and that the girls he saw in Lagos were not marriageable (He didn't want to tell her the real reason). His mother did not want to hear his excuses tho and she told him that she would get him a good girl from Amuzi, their Village.

Okolo knew that if he dragged the matter, his mum would start questioning him, so he agreed. Mama Okolo went in search of a good, homely girl girl for her son. She already had her eyes set on Nwabusomma, the daughter of the local palmwine tapper.

Somma was a good girl. Responsible and respectful. She was 20 years old and had only just written Jamb. She aspired to become a teacher because she loved children and they loved her too. This was a good omen for Mama Okolo. She approached Somma's Parents and told them of her plans for their daughter.

Papa Somma agreed immediately. He knew Okolo very well, he knew their family. For Okolo to wed his daughter would be a blessing for him. Somma was his first child of 7. Even getting her her jamb form had him tapping palm trees from the neighboring village and he still had 6 to go. He respected his daughter however, so he called her to hear her say.

Somma decided that she would agree to marry Okolo, on the condition that he would allow her go to school. As a teacher, she would still have enough time to take care of the home, kids and him. Mama Okolo said it won't be a problem.

Mama Okolo called Okolo and told him how far she had gone with finding a wife for him. She told him of Somma and he was happy, because well, the girl was a beauty! And if he was to have a wife, who better? She also told him her condition and Okolo agreed, hell, he had enough money to even build her a University if she wanted.

4 months passed by and the wedding and everything took place. Somma moved to Lagos to be with her husband and Okolo set up an account for all of her siblings and paid in 1m each for them.

Somma was a good wife and she remained very attentive to her husband's needs. He met her a virgin and he was overwhelmed. Okolo was a good husband to her, given that Somma, despite her beauty was still a dense village girl. Though she had gone to school in Amuzi, she still couldn't live up to the hustle and bustle of Lagos.

Okolo promised to send her to school after she got used to it all. Exactly 3 months after Somma's arrival, Okolo enrolled her into an Evening school. To help her acclimatise with the whole thing. She was happy because that was a step ahead.

Mama Okolo however was more interested in whether Somma had started vomiting. Three months was enough time to get pregnant, after all she gave birth to her first child exactly 9 months after her deflowering. Okolo however told her not to rush them.

1 year later, tongues had started wagging. Somma's belly wasn't protruding. Was she cursed? With a successful husband like Okolo, why couldn't she produce a child for him?

1 year later, tongues had started wagging. Somma's belly wasn't protruding. Was she cursed? With a successful husband like Okolo, why couldn't she produce a child for him?

Okolo knew he was the cause. So anytime he met Somma crying and praying, he would immediately form vex and leave the house.

One day, while in the shop, one of his boys came and told him that he saw Somma with a fine young man walking towards their house. He even added that they were both smiling at each other and that they were so lost in each other, they didn't even notice him pass.

Okolo immediately drove home and true enough, Somma was with a light skin, handsome young man. Somma immediately introduced Okolo to the young man as Eric, her fellow course mate and added that she had invited him home to have him explain better an assignment.

Okolo was having none of that. He sent Eric out of the house and pounced on Somma. Calling her a whore and hurling abuses at her. He accused her of being a witch and that that was the reason why she couldn't give him children.

Things took a bad turn in the Okolo family. Somma got the beating of her life for every little to no issue. Okolo disrespected her everywhere. He beat her up even in public and kept shouting, asking anyone who was close by to "beg this witch to give me children! "

Somma complained to her father and he invited Okolo home for a visit. At the visit, he explained to Okolo that he could understand the way he felt, almost 18 months, no children and he promised him that Somma wasn't barren.

Her mother gave him 7 children, his sisters all had kids and none of her mother's family ever lacked kids and so it wasn't in their lineage. Okoro became furious and asked the man what he was implying? Shouting at him a and asking him if he felt he was the problem in the marriage.

Papa Somma tried to calm him down, he knew what Okolo had done for their family and he knew that if he lost this one as a son in-law, his family wouldn't be able to go back to where they had been before. He urged Okolo to go to a hospital, that he had heard that there were doctors for this kind of cases. Okolo thanked him and left with his wife.

Back in Lagos, things weren't getting easier for Somma. Her husband was getting very hurtful and abusive, she only found solace in her course mates at school and even that wasn't everyday. Some days, she had to sit at he and nurse her injuries, other days, her face was too swollen to do anything.

To avoid tongues wagging, Okolo paid a doctor some money and after running tests, results showed that Okolo had no problems, but Somma had to come back after 2 weeks for another test.
This gave Okolo another excuse to beat Somma up. He kept telling her that her results were inconclusive because she was the problem.

At that point, Somma was devastated. She could see that she was probably the cause of her marriage's childlessness. She tried her best to get her husband on her side. After 2 weeks, she went back to the hospital and the doctor told her that even though nothing was wrong with her, her system could do better. He prescribed drugs that would make her fallopian tubes 'function better' and sent her home.

Somma spoke to her mother and after narrating her everyday ordeal, she burst into tears. Her mother explained to her that even though God gives children, it was still the woman's job to bring them forth. She told Somma that the only way to settle this issue, was to let her husband take a second wife, pending when she could give birth to hers.

Somma had no other option but to agree. She called Okolo's mother and told her that she was okay with her getting Okolo a second wife as she couldn't help but notice that she was unable to give him any children. Okolo's mother was also in support of the idea and promised to speak to her son.

When Okolo heard the solution though, he flared. He refused vehemently, stating that it was against his faith and that he would never do that. Then he turned on Somma and beat her up for not telling him first before coming to that conclusion and involving his mother.

4 years of marriage and Somma was dying in pain, sorrow and rejection. The once beautiful girl whose name Nwabusomma didn't need an explanation had become a shadow of herself.
One Saturday, after her husband had gone to shop, Somma decided to do serious cleanup.

She decided to clean out the wardrobes and wash up the clothes in the boxes. While at it, she stumbled across Okolo's Test results dated back 10 years. Her husband was IMPOTENT! All these years, he was impotent and she had borne the brunt of all the pain.

The whole neighborhood called her barren. Even children taunted her in church. She was the laughing stock of the whole Business Men Wive's Community and it was all his fault?

Somma burst into tears. She cried for hours and then cleaned her tears. She called her mother and told her everything. Then she begged her to not tell anyone else. Her mother agreed and asked her what she planned to do about it, if she was going to confront him, she replied in the negative and told her not to worry about it. Pain had turned her mad, with rage.

Somma neatly packed back the test results as she had found them. She arranged the room and had her bath, dressed up and called Eric (they had remained friends). Asked him if he was open for a visit and he said yes, she went to see him.

On getting there, they talked and laughed, gisted about stuff until Somma told him she was really horny and her husband was neglecting her. She begged Eric to sleep with her and told him not to worry, that she was on Somma contraceptives so he needn't bother about protection. She explained that she and her husband weren't ready for kids yet and that's why they didn't have any. Eric obliged and they had sex.

Life at the Okolo's continued as usual, but Somma fell sick. Okolo was quite flustered. He took her to the hospital and a test was run. She wasn't sick of malaria or typhoid. The nurse advised that they run a full body test and the pregnancy result came back POSITIVE!

Okolo could neither show shock or happiness. He was flabbergasted and overwhelmed. He knew it wasn't his child but he couldn't say it out either. Everyone was congratulating him and shouting "miracle baby", Somma was all smiles, on her knees praising God and on the phone calling his mother, whose voice he could already hear over the phone shouting "my God is not asleep"😂

He felt faint

Mama Okolo was in Lagos 2 days later, promising to remain there with the duo until her grand child arrived. Okolo kept his distance at first, but his mother kept dragging him to do small things for Somma. "Come and rub your wife's stomach, this is your first child", she would say, "boil some water for Somma to bath, or do you want your child to be cold?"... Okolo was forced to keep staring at his pregnant wife, whose beauty was slowly returning.

At 5 months, Somma went with Mama Okolo for Antenatal and during the Ultrasound scan, it was found that she was pregnant of twins. Mama Okolo's joys knew no bounds. For 4 years she had seeked just 1 child and now she was getting 2! Wasn't God good?

When Okolo heard the news, he was dumb, he couldn't smile or shout. His mother was confused, but Somma knew his reason. She told his mother to let him be, that he was probably tired from work and all of that.

Exactly 9 months later, Somma was delivered of 2 bouncing baby boys☺. At this point, Okolo was hooked, he had decided to flow with the tide, wondering if maybe God had actually performed a miracle. He named his kids Chinazaekpere and Chukwunonso. Okolo reconciled with his wife, Somma and began to treat her again like a queen... But what is it they say about forgiveness? Its always hard to forget😂

They both grew well and Okolo took the best care of them. Their lives were smooth, from their baby perambulators to the Kindergarten they attended. At 3, one could see their 'moneyness' from a mile away.

Somma was bent on destroying Okolo just as he had destroyed her. So she set up another meet with Eric. They had kept up their rapport all these years and he also knew about her twins, je always teased her about how fruitful she was, getting two immediately after ceasing her contraceptives😂.  One thing led to another, and they had sex.

At this point, Okolo couldn't believe in the miracle tale anymore. He went to the hospital that had confirmed him impotent 14 years before and asked for the doctor who had attended to him. He was told that the said doctor had traveled abroad. He submitted his file to the doctor present and requested that another test be run on him to see if he could have ebeen somewhat cured. The doctor on seat looked at his file and told him that it would be a waste of money running the test as his case of impotency could never be remedied. Okolo told the man that his verdict was impossible as he had two kids and his wife was pregnant with the third. The doctor looked at him in pity, shook his head and asked an orderly to prepare Okolo for the test.

The results returned Negative. He was impotent and didn't even have the power to impregnate a lizard😂

Okolo was angry! If the test results were negative, then it only meant his wife was sleeping with someone else, he was going to kill her for that. On second thought though, he wondered, "kill her on what grounds? That she was pregnant?", that was certainly going to do more harm than good. It would tell everyone that he was impotent and that all the time he was beating her up, he knew he was in the wrong. Okolo realized that his village girl had grown a different type of confidence and it scared him. If she could do this, what else was she capable of? The fact that he didn't know the answer to that, scared the hair off his head.

Okolo was humbled, not only because of the situation he was in, but because he knew he had brought it upon himself. He wished he could remedy it but where could he start from? Somma was playing with his authority and his face, two things he held close to his heart. He couldn't talk to anyone, none of his friends could be trusted to not spread his news. Okolo was left with one choice, he had to tell his mother.

He called his mother (who had of course come to keep pregnant Somma, company). He narrated his ordeal to her and his last words hadn't dropped when she slapped the fullstop out of his mouth. "This simple, beautiful girl. The most responsible of all the girls in Amuzi agreed to marry you and you put her through all that? I heard you were beating her, but I chalked it all up to frustration, but you knew you were the cause yet you abused her!? Somma has earned my respect."

Somma's mother was called, alongside Somma and Mama Okolo made him confess his deeds. Okolo in tears begged Somma's forgiveness. He apologized for having treated her the way he did and promised to never do it again. He told her he knew the kids weren't his and told her he forgave her because he knew he had pushed her to do it. He promised to raise them as his own and to treat them like his own precious stones.

Somma had no tears left in her eyes. She accepted her husband's  apology and took his hands in forgiveness.

6 months later, amidst love and fanfare, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, whom Okolo named Nkebunkem.

They lived happily ever after, with Okolo paying up for his past with excess love and emotions🥰.
